WHAT TO WEAR AS A GUEST TO A LATE SUMMER WEDDING

Receiving a wedding invitation is always exciting! Having friends or a family member getting married to the person they love it’s a special event that no one wants to miss.

My friend David is getting married soon, and as the date is coming closer I am thinking about what to wear to a wedding in September. Especially for late summer weddings, the choices are easier than in midsummer’s crazy heatwave. In late summer there is no coat to center the outfit around like there would be for a winter wedding, so there are more options to sift through. If you’re feeling confused about what you should wear as a guest to an end of summer wedding, here I want to share my favorite options and some tips how put together the perfect outfit in no time.

CITY WEDDING
Chic uptowngirl

Want to be the stylish guest in black with top-and-trousers and bring some serious fashion flair? Look for minimalistic, tailored trousers and pair it with an interesting statement top. Dare to be the emphasis on glamour and femininity!

Unique tailoring

Embrace the ultra-feminine and unique look with an asymmetric stretch-crepe peplum tunic and stretch-crepe flared pants from the London-based Safiyaa. This look guarantees an instant sophisticated elegance, elevated by Miu Miu sandals and Attico feather-trimmed beaded silk pouch.

Modern pastels

Pastel shades at weddings are the best choices, but if you want to be different and look good, you’ll need to update your approach. Reach for a classic frame midi dress, in the season’s most talked-about color – pink, then add statement earrings and a sleek leather bag or a clutch.

COUNTRY WEDDING
Sophisticated florals

You’ll be safe is you choose florals for a wedding. Opt for classic shapes with subtle twists like this beautiful asymmetric ruffled printed crepon midi dress. Ruffles or fluted sleeves for a next-level ladylike style – adding a classic pair of sandals, a clutch and gold jewelry.

Country pastels

Pastels go hand in hand for a wedding venue. Opt for a simple halterneck Lyocell-blend dress with statement accessories for an innately feminine look.

Short but sweet

As much as midi lengths may look appropriate for a wedding, a shorter length can be just as elegant, depending on the weddings location and the theme. With Zimmermann printed linen mini dress and add matching accessories for a pretty green theme.

DESTINATION WEDDING
Simply chic

If you prefer your looks muted rather than bold colors? Go for a neutral colors with matching accessories. This dress hits the sweet spot between resort and polished elegance, as well as will look just elevated enough to work with elegant but also smaller heels.

Luxe bohemian

Who doesn’t love a beautiful wedding location, with breathtaking sunset view? A perfect excuse to try something a little more daring such as tropical prints, off-shoulder dresses, and beautiful summer accessories. Add a pair of oversized shades and a crochet clutch, then finish with a pair of heels that you can kick off while you dance the night away.

Beach glam

This look takes me to a Greek Island wedding destination. A wrap-effect floral-print silk-chiffon maxi dress is perfect for a beach wedding. Keep your accessories low-key to avoid looking overdone, so stick to bare leather sandals, pearls and a handcrafted clutch from white rattan.
