HOTEL REVIEW: MANDARIN ORIENTAL, MARRAKECH

After seven years, I finally could visit my favourite city in North Africa again. The red-clay walls, mosaic floors and wall decorations, fountains, bougainvillea all over, aromatic olive and orange trees, this place for sure is a surreal travel back in time in modern days and always worth coming back.

Thanks to Mandarin Oriental Marrakech, I could also convince my friends Maria and Tony to join me on this trip, and guess what? They loved it.

After a few days of staying in Marrakech’s medina, we went to Mandarin Oriental, to experience the different side of Marrakech.

Mandarin Oriental Marrakech is a luxurious five-star hotel located in the Palmeraie district of Marrakech, Morocco. It is surrounded by beautiful gardens and offers stunning views of the Atlas Mountains.

Located 20 minutes from the medina (reached at any time of the day by car), in a palm-studded desert oasis of beautiful pools and lakes, the resorts’ 16 villas may be the hardest place to leave.

The hotel features 54 private villas and suites, each with its own pool, garden, and outdoor living area. The elegance and comfort of the rooms make it perfect for couples and families seeking a relaxing and rejuvenating vacation. The Hakkasan restaurant with DJ that serves late night; and an Andalusian-style spa with an Moroccan traditional Hammam that’ll leave you wanting to do nothing but flop back onto one of those poolside loungers.

For families traveling with young children, the hotel offers a Kids’ Club with a range of activities and games. Meanwhile, couples can enjoy romantic activities like a private dinner in the gardens or a couples’ massage at the spa.

How is the service?

The service at the hotel is exceptional, with friendly and attentive staff available 24/7 to assist guests with their needs. The hotel also offers a variety of amenities, including a spa, fitness center, steam room, and outdoor pool.

Drinking and dining—what are we looking at?

When it comes to dining, there are several options available at Mandarin Oriental Marrakech. The Shirvan Restaurant & Bar serves oriental dishes with modern a twist as well as delicious cocktails, while the Ling Lang by Hakkasan offers modern small Cantonese dishes to share that are simply perfect. The Pool Garden restaurant provides all-day dining with a menu that features both Moroccan and international cuisine. For sunset drinks, the Tent is the perfect spot for enjoying a signature cocktail and selected appetizers.

Mandarin Oriental Marrakech SPA

At Mandarin Oriental Marrakech you can find the ultimate holistic oasis, inspired from Oriental heritage and Moroccan traditions. The SPA offers Moroccan Hammam, indoor swimming pool, signature massages, open air treatments in SPA suites, as well as a fitness area.

Is there anything I would change?

When you consider the decor, the individual villas, the top-notch food and beverage, you start to realize that everything about this hotel is perfectly executed.

Bottom line: Worth it? Why?

Mandarin Oriental Marrakech offers an exceptional luxury experience, perfect for those looking to enjoy the beauty and culture of Marrakech in comfort and style.
