City of Love turned to a seductive and sensual weekend of alluring lingerie Opera Pop on Ice
Extraordinary events are rare, and this was by far the most exhilarating, sensual, and romantic opera experience I have ever witnessed. On September 20 and 21, 2014, Olympic ice-skating champions, international show business stars, and Intimissimi, the leading Italian lingerie brand in Europe, came together for a breathtaking celebration of ice skating and opera at the historic Arena di Verona.
It was my first time watching an ice-skating show live, and I was completely mesmerized by the dreamlike beauty of the skaters gliding harmoniously across the ice. The evening was even more unforgettable as I had the chance to see live performances by Pharrell Williams and Kiesza, alongside the stunning Intimissimi models Ana Beatriz Barros, Irina Shayk, Bianca Balti, Katsia Zingarevich, and Blanca Suárez.
The show began with a surprise performance by Pharrell Williams on Saturday night, just hours before his concert in Milan. The evening unfolded into a mesmerizing spectacle of opera, pop music, skating, and fashion, seamlessly blending classical music with the magic of ice dancing, kaleidoscopic stage settings, and stunning lighting effects.
Divided into two acts, the performance delivered pure entertainment. The Arena transformed into a shimmering lake, echoing the sound of cascading waterfalls, before turning into a frozen landscape of icebergs. Soon after, fiery meteorites illuminated the space, igniting passionate dances and dazzling the audience with multicolored lights and diamond-like reflections.
Other notable performers included the renowned American singer Anastacia and Italian singer Giorgia, who graced the stage with their captivating voices.
This event was a remarkable evolution of “Opera on Ice,” a prestigious ice gala conceived by Giulia Mancini and previously held at the Arena di Verona for three successful editions. The new musical format elevated the show to an exceptional international level, creating an unforgettable fusion of music, ice, and artistry.

First the Arena was transformed into a lake to the sound of waterfalls, than it became ice and icebergs.
After ice and icebergs, the Arena transformed into flames of meteorites with fiery dances.
Starting from the success of one of the finest Ice Galas, “Opera on ice” devised by Giulia Mancini and held in the Arena di Verona in the past three editions, the new original musical format transformed the show into an excellent international level.

A sparkling display of beauty in movement, with costumes by Ali Mahdavi, the famous artist and photographer, aesthete of art, who has taken inspiration from the 2014 autumn winter collection of the “Intimissimi” brand, dreaming up extremely sensual creations.
